A House Of Worship of the Baha'i religion, the Baha'i Temple in Wilmette, Illinois was built between 1920 to 1953. It is of reinforced concrete and stands 191 feet high.

The Milwaukee Art Museum (I)

The Milwaukee Art Museum is located on the shore of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, the largest city of the state of Wisconsin. This building, the Quadracci Pavilion, was designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and opened in 2001. It is seen from the south in this photo.

Ernest Hemingway's Birthplace (I)

In this house in Oak Park, Illinois on July 21, 1899 the author Ernest Hemingway was born. It has been restored to its condition at that time and is open for tours.

An area of the living room of the house. Hemingway's father was an avid photographer and took pictures of the home's interior. These black and white photos and written descriptions of the interior's colors have helped to restore the interior to the year 1899, when Hemingway was born.

This is the kitchen of the house. The home has been restored to look as it did at the time of his birth in 1899 but in the case of the kitchen some changes, such as the exit in the upper right, have been added to conform to modern fire codes.

In this room, which was his mother's bedroom, on July 21, 1899 the author Ernest Hemingway was born. Moments after Ernest was born his father opened the room's window and played his trumpet to announce the birth to the neighbors.

This room was Ernest Hemingway's first bedroom. He slept in the bed on the right and shared the room with his older sister. The furniture is a faithful recreation of his time here as is the wallpaper. Curiously the future author's room was decorated with scenes of the adventures of Peter Rabbit. Five years after Ernest was born the growing family moved to a larger house a few blocks away.

Abraham Lincoln's Home (I)

This is Abraham Lincoln's home in Springfield, Illinois which is about 180 miles (290 km) south-west of Chicago. Lincoln lived here from 1844 to when he became President in 1861. The house has been restored to its 1860 appearance.

This is the front parlor of Abraham Lincoln's home in Springfield, Illinois. It has been restored to its 1860 appearance with many of the furnishings those that actually belonged to the Lincoln family when they lived there. It was in this room that Lincoln accepted the Republican nomination to be the President of the United States.
